How to arrive on Ponza

Arriving on the island

Ponza can be reached by various forms of transport:

- by plane from the airports of Rome and Naples and from there to the embarkation ports by train, taxi, rental car or helicopter;
- by train to Formia or Anzio and from there to the embarkation ports by taxi or on foot (one kilometer);
- by car to the embarkation ports of Formia, Terracina and Anzio.

On the island the circulation of non-resident cars is limited during the summer months. However, we recommend to leave your car in a guarded parking lot near the port of embarkation.

By Plane

Rome Fiumicino International Airport
The “Leonardo Express” train connects Fiumicino Airport with Rome Termini Railway Station and vice versa. The ticket costs € 14. Departures are every 30 minutes from 6 am to 11 pm. The journey takes 31 minutes. At Roma Termini all trains arrive and depart from platform 25 (400 m at the end of platform 24). The Leonardo Express is always guaranteed even in the event of a railway strike (if necessary, the trains will be replaced by buses).

Rome Ciampino International Airport
The connection between the airport and the Rome Termini Railway Station is carried out by the bus lines of the companies ATRAL, COTRAL, SIT and TERRAVISION, parked in the special stalls in front of the "Partenze Internazionali / International Departures" terminal, or from the train that connects the airport with Termini Station. The ticket costs € 1.30. Departures are approximately every 20 minutes from 6 to 24 hours. The journey takes 15 minutes. The airport is also connected to the Ciampino railway station by a Schiaffini Autolinee bus service.

Naples Capodichino International Airport
To reach the center of Naples from the airport by public transport, you can use the Alibus Shuttle Service which connects the airport with the Central Station of Piazza Garibaldi; the ticket, valid for 90 minutes, costs € 3, allows interchange with other metropolitan carriers and can also be purchased on board. Departures are every 30 minutes from 6.30 am to 11.30 pm.

By Taxi

Taxis can be found at the exit of the airports: check that they display the license of the Municipality with its number. The fare is set by the taximeter.

The transfer from the Rome Fiumicino International Airport to the Roma Termini railway station takes about 40 minutes and to the port of Anzio about 1 hour.

The transfer from Rome Ciampino International Airport to Rome Termini train station takes about 30 minutes and to Anzio port about 1 hour.

The transfer from Naples International Airport to Central Station takes about 15 minutes, 20 minutes for Piazza Municipio, 25 minutes for Mergellina pier.

Airport Transfer

Trains, buses, taxis – we understand that getting to Ponza landing in Rome or Naples is not exactly simple and relaxing. To start your holiday in complete relaxation we recommend to book a transfer service with a private car.
In the case of small groups, the choice of private transfer is also convenient from an economic point of view as the cost of train, bus and taxi tickets is equivalent to the cost of a much more comfortable and relaxing private transfer.

HOW TO REACH THE PORTS FOR BOARDING

Formia

By train:
- IC and regional trains depart from the Roma Termini railway station about every hour, the transfer with the ICs take about 70 minutes, the regional ones about 90 minutes;
- IC and regional trains depart from the Napoli Centrale railway station about every hour, the transfer with the ICs take about 50 minutes while the regional ones take about 75 minutes.
The port of Formia is about 1 kilometer from the train station which can be reached on foot or by taxi.

By car: From the A1 Milano - Napoli Autostrada del Sole motorway, take the Cassino exit, continue along the provincial road to Formia.

Anzio

By train: From the Roma Termini railway station, regional trains depart approximately every hour and take approximately 60 minutes. The port of Anzio is about 1 kilometer from the railway station which can be reached on foot or by taxi.

By car: From the Rome ring road exit 26 for Via Pontina SS148, after about 32 kilometers take the exit for Anzio.

Terracina

By train:
- from the Roma Termini railway station, regional trains, infrequent, take about 90 minutes. The port of Terracina is about 2 kilometers from the railway station which can be reached by bus or taxi.
- from the Roma Termini railway station regional trains leave for the Monte San Biagio railway station, approximately every hour, which take about 70 minutes. The Monte San Biagio railway station is about 12 kilometers from the port of Terracina which can be reached by bus or taxi.

By car: From the Autostrada del sole A1 Milano - Napoli, take the Frosinone exit, continue along the provincial road to Terracina. From the Rome ring road, take exit 26 for Via Pontina SS148, after approximately 95 kilometers take the exit for Terracina.

San Felice Circeo

By train: From the Roma Termini railway station regional trains depart approximately every hour which take about 60 minutes and arrive at the Priverno-Fossanova railway station, which is about 37 kilometers from the port of San Felice Circeo which can be reached by bus or Taxi.

By car: From the Autostrada del sole A1 Milano - Napoli, take the Frosinone exit, continue along the provincial road to San Felice Circeo. From the Rome ring road, take exit 26 for Via Pontina SS148, after about 85 kilometers take the exit for San Felice Circeo.

Napoli

By train: The port of Mergellina is about 4 kilometers from the Napoli Centrale railway station which can be reached by underground, bus or taxi.

By car: From the A1 Milano - Napoli Autostrada del sole motorway, take the Tangenziale and exit at Fuorigrotta, then continue towards the port of Mergellina.

Parking lots

There are guarded parking lots near the ports of embarkation for Ponza.

- In Anzio you can park along the Riviera di Ponente or behind the port, always on the same side (in summer these parking lots are subject to charges).
